What It Involves
Autism and ADHD assessments provide a comprehensive psychological evaluation designed to better understand an individual’s developmental, behavioural, emotional and cognitive presentation.
The assessment process may include clinical interviews, standardised questionnaires, behavioural observations and validated assessment tools, with information gathered from the individual and, where appropriate, parents, carers, partners, teachers or other relevant people.
The aim is to build a clear picture of strengths, challenges and day-to-day functioning, and to determine whether the presentation is consistent with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or another explanation that may require further consideration.
Where appropriate, a formal report can be provided outlining assessment findings, recommendations and suggested next steps.

Autism and ADHD assessments may be suitable for children, adolescents and adults who are seeking greater clarity around difficulties with attention, concentration, organisation, impulsivity, social communication, sensory experiences, routines or emotional regulation.
Assessments can also support families who have noticed developmental or behavioural differences and would like a clearer understanding of their child’s needs.
For adults, an assessment may help explain longstanding patterns that have affected education, employment, relationships or everyday functioning, and can provide valuable information to guide future support and management.
What to Expect
The assessment process typically begins with an initial consultation to discuss your concerns, developmental history, current circumstances and the reasons you are seeking an assessment.
This is followed by structured assessment sessions using appropriate clinical tools and questionnaires. Depending on the assessment, additional information may also be requested from parents, carers, partners, teachers or other relevant sources.
Once the assessment is complete, your psychologist will review the information and meet with you for a feedback session to explain the findings, answer questions and discuss recommendations and next steps.
Where required, a comprehensive written report may also be prepared to document the assessment findings and provide recommendations for ongoing support.
