Farzana grew up in India before migrating to Australia over seventeen years ago and is able to communicate in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati.
Farzana uses an eclectic approach and has been working in Australia for over a decade. She is passionate, genuine, empathetic, a good listener, compassionate, approachable, culturally sensitive and non-judgemental in her approach. Farzana provides a safe environment for clients in the therapeutic space where you are able to express your thoughts and feelings, without the fear of being judged.
Farzana has worked for not-for-profit organisations and in private practice, counselling across all ages through person centred counselling and making a difference by helping clients lead meaningful lives. Working with children, she has created, developed and implemented a Child Program: A CBT based 6 session program to help 9-11 year olds have a smooth transition to high school.
Farzana works with people who are experiencing suicidal ideations, self-harm, grief and trauma, personality disorders, issues relating to burnout, work – life balance, professional concerns and bullying, anxiety and depression, relationship conflicts, preventative work – learned optimism, building compassion and self-care, low self-esteem, addictions, post-natal depression, parenting support for children’s behavioural issues, anger, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulty, attachment issues, immigrants, schizophrenia, bipolar, domestic violence, adjustment issues, crisis, sleep and stress.
Farzana is trained in evidence based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Dialectical Behaviour therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Psychoeducation, Schema focused therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Minimisation.
