Sam is a Registered Psychologist at PHC who welcomes clients presenting with a diverse range of therapeutic and support needs. He aims to provide a warm, nurturing, non-judgemental, safe and secure space for clients to explore their difficulties at whichever stage they may meet him on their therapeutic journey.
Sam can assist clients with a broad range of difficulties including:

Additionally, Sam has diverse previous experience in alcohol and drug treatment settings therefore he is confident to support clients to explore their mental health concerns and trauma that may be occurring alongside substance use. Sam also has significant experience providing support to caregivers and significant others who may be supporting those who are struggling with addictions.
Sam has skills and experience in several evidence-based modalities including CBT, Solution Focussed, Strengths Based and Emotion focussed therapies. He also has completed training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and EMDR. Sam also has a special interest and detailed training in Schema-based therapies which can help people understand their relationship functioning & self-esteem, cope more effectively in life and work and facilitate healing from past traumas.
Sam’s therapeutic approach is always evidence based, client centred, outcome focussed, feedback informed. He works with clients to tailor an individual, flexible plan for therapy to meet the current needs of his clients and support their journey towards wellness.
